Biodiversity refers to the billions of organisms living on Earth and their interactions with each other. The main threats to biodiversity are excessive land use and the resulting damage, unregulated and undocumented hunting activities, climate change and global warming, pollution factors, and the excessive and sudden spread of invasive species. The purpose of our department is to investigate the possible causes, mechanisms and effects of climate change through climate change simulations and modelling studies, to determine the future trends and effects of climate change on species or species groups in our country's geography using climate models, to provide scientific data in areas such as water resource management, modern agricultural practices and coastal management through national and international scientific studies in the fight against climate change, to assess climate change risks, provide scientific data to areas such as water resource management, modern agricultural practices, and coastal management, and contribute to the regional and national economy, prepare projects and publications on these topics by following developments related to biological diversity and climate change at home and abroad, and organise panels, congresses, conferences, etc. of national and international calibre. and to contribute to the development of Turkey's biological wealth databases with project outputs.
